TEMECULA, Calif. (AP) — A Southern California woman is in police custody on suspicion of fatally shooting her boyfriend in front of their infant in a hotel room.
Riverside County Sheriff's Sgt. Mike Manning said Monday that 32-year-old Maria Vihanek of Wildomar will be booked for investigation of murder for the shooting at the Pechanga Resort and Casino near Temecula.
Authorities said that after being shot, 49-year-old Keith Rodman of Los Angeles went to the lobby to seek medical help. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Manning said Vihanek had a self-inflicted injury when she was found in the room with the couple's 6-month-old baby.
Vihanek was being treated at a hospital for the injury. Manning said the injury was not a gunshot wound, but declined to elaborate.
