FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — Jim Schlossnagle walked alone into the outfield at TCU's stadium on the night he became the Horned Frogs coach 11 years ago and envisioned an NCAA super regional there.
Scholossnagle's dream comes true Saturday when TCU (45-15), the No. 7 national seed, hosts Pepperdine in Game 1 of the best-of-three super regional.
The Frogs are playing in their fourth super regional in six years, but their first at home. They went to the College World Series in 2010 after playing a super regional at the University of Texas for the second year in a row.
Pepperdine (42-16) won the 1992 College World Series when coach Steve Rodriguez was an All-American player for the Waves. This is Pepperdine's first super regional since the tournament expanded to that format 15 years ago.
