LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles building officials say there is no active earthquake fault under the site of a proposed 16-story development in Hollywood.
The Los Angeles Times reported Thursday (http://lat.ms/10CISp5 ) that the Department of Building and Safety has signed off on geology reports on the property just east of the Millennium Hollywood project.
The determination came after the city asked the developer's geologist to do additional seismic trenching earlier this year. A possible fault was found buried deep underground, but tests showed that it last moved so long ago that it was considered inactive.
The state geologist is expected to finalize a regulatory map of the Hollywood fault next month.
The apartment complex project would feature 95 residential units and 14,000 square feet of office space.
