Minivan fleeing police crashes in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — San Francisco police say a pedestrian was critically injured when a stolen minivan fled from police, ran a red light and crashed into a taxi cab.

The crash around 10:30 p.m. Monday sent the vehicles onto a sidewalk, where two pedestrians were struck. The other pedestrian was being evaluated.

Police spokesman Albie Esparza says the suspect had fled moments earlier after police tried to pull the van over. Police did not pursue the van.

After the crash, police say the suspect boarded a bus before being taken into custody.

The taxi driver, a passenger in the taxi and the suspect suffered non life-threatening injuries.
