RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) — Emergency repairs to a major drinking water line had officials in Riverside County asking residents to suspend all outdoor and non-essential indoor water use.
The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California says that repairs to a leaky valve were finished and the line filled and brought back into service several hours ahead of schedule Sunday afternoon.
The 9-foot-diamater pipeline carries water from Northern California as part of the state's redistribution system.
Officials had asked that more than 325,000 customers in Perris, Moreno Valley and other Riverside County cities to limit their water usage through the weekend.
While the emergency brought on by the repairs are over, they asked that users remain in conservation mode because of the statewide drought.
