Fresno suspect got away twice, but not third time

FRESNO, Calif. (AP) — The third time was not the charm for a burglary suspect who successfully eluded Fresno County authorities twice before.

The Fresno Bee reported Monday (http://bit.ly/1pVHcvK) that Randy Lee Grill's luck ran out after crashing a stolen SUV, riding off on a bicycle and then leading officers on a foot chase. He was arrested after trying to steal an idling vehicle at a trucking company.

Deputies recovered a handgun and other stolen property from the crashed SUV.

The 26-year-old had been sought since June, when he was involved in an armed confrontation with a homeowner during an attempted burglary.

Then last week Grill escaped a police cordon when he stole a pickup in downtown Fresno as officers were closing in.

He was booked on charges of carjacking, vehicle theft, possession of stolen property and weapons offenses.
