SAN DIEGO (AP) — The FBI is asking for the public's help in locating a violent fugitive who was recently seen in the San Francisco Bay area and may be headed to Mexico.
A reward of up to $10,000 is offered for information leading to the arrest of 28-year-old Kevin Briggs, who escaped from police in Montana on Feb. 1.
Briggs is a felon and registered sex offender who is accused of assaults against a woman and a police officer.
Investigators say he was seen last week in San Francisco, Berkeley and Oakland. He may currently be in Southern California.
The FBI says Briggs may be staying in homeless shelters.
The brown-haired Briggs is 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighs about 135 pounds. He reportedly told an acquaintance he planned to travel to Mexico.
