EDINBURG, Texas (AP) — Issiah Grayson scored 27 points on 8-of-10 shooting and Javonte Maynor had 13 as Cal State Bakersfield defeated Texas-Pan American 72-64 Saturday night.
The Roadrunners (9-13, 2-6 Western Athletic Conference) shot 45.7 percent from the field, with Brandon Barnes chipping in 10 points.
Texas-Pan American (6-17, 2-6) shot 43.8 percent, but with 2-of-17 shooting beyond the arc. Shaquille Hines led the Broncs with 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Javorn Farrell had 13 points with six assists.
The Broncs moved out to a nine-point lead in the first half, but CS Bakersfield surged back to take the lead after a layup by Grayson early in the second half.
Texas-Pan American pushed their lead back to seven after a Hines layup, but the Roadrunners countered with a 10-3 run to tie it at the midway mark.
Stefon Johnson hit a pair of 3-pointers, igniting a 14-7 surge to close the game.
