SALINAS, Calif. (AP) — Monterey County authorities say a Salinas couple is under arrest after three children were discovered badly malnourished, and in one case a child appeared to have been chained to a wall.
The Salinas Californian reports (http://bit.ly/1oLWUuP) that Sheriff Scott Miller said on Friday that 31-year-old Eraca Craig and 44-year-old Christian Deanda are being charged with child abuse and neglect.
Miller said two boys, ages 3 and 5, and an 8-year-old girl were found living in squalor with little food.
Miller said there were indications that the girl had been chained to a wall from time to time.
One of the children was biologically related to one of the women, who were domestic partners. The other two were adopted.
Miller said all three children are in foster homes now.
