LOS ANGELES (AP) — A former child psychologist convicted of inappropriately touching his young patients has been sentenced in Los Angeles to eight years in state prison
The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office says Thomas Gary Amberson was also ordered Wednesday to register as a sex offender for life.
The 58-year-old Upland resident pleaded no contest on June 23 to two felony counts of lewd act upon a child.
Deputy District Attorney Cynthia Valenzuela said one of Amberson's patients revealed to his parents that he was touched inappropriately during therapy sessions in 2010.
The parents contacted police and an investigation revealed that Amberson also had sexually abused another patient in 2007.
A district attorney's statement says both victims were under the age of 13 years old when the crimes occurred.
