AVALON, Calif. (AP) — Four men are hurt after their small private fishing vessel ran aground off Catalina Island in the early morning hours.
Authorities said Sunday that the men were rescued early Sunday by Los Angeles County Fire Department lifeguards stationed on the island after they radioed for help.
Weather prevented a helicopter rescue, so the lifeguards took them by boat to a Los Angeles fire station in San Pedro, where they were taken by ambulance for treatment.
Three are in fair condition and one was critically injured.
A fifth boater was not seriously injured.
The accident happened between Long Point and Twin Rocks.
