LOGAN, Utah (AP) — Utah State center Jarred Shaw, the Aggies' leading scorer at 16.1 points per game, was reinstated to the team only hours after pleading guilty to a drug charge.
The 6-foot-10 senior pleaded guilty Friday to a third-degree felony charge of possession of marijuana in return for the dismissal of misdemeanor charges of possession of paraphernalia and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Coach Stew Morrill suspended Shaw on Dec. 16, a day after police arrived at a home near the university and found marijuana and an underage girl.
Morrill issued a statement Friday saying the 23-year-old Shaw made a mistake, but it was his first offense and he served his penalty by missing five games.
The Aggies went 4-1 in Shaw's absence.
