SANTA MONICA, Calif. (AP) — Authorities have reopened all lanes of a Southern California tunnel, hours after a truck accident that killed a child, critically injured another youngster and hurt six other people.
A big-rig flatbed truck, a dump truck hauling a trailer and a minivan were involved in the crash at about 12:30 p.m. Friday in the McClure Tunnel, an Interstate 10 segment that connects to the Pacific Coast Highway west of Los Angeles.
Santa Monica Deputy Fire Chief Tom Clemo says seven people in the minivan were injured, including both children, along with one of the truck drivers.
Westbound lanes of the freeway were closed for about six hours, snarling traffic on nearby Santa Monica streets.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
